1 in every 7 people in the United States will experience food insecurity in their lifetime. At the same time, the average American family will throw away 1160 pounds of edible food every year. Country wide, that adds up to $162 billion dollars’ worth of food waste annually. Imagine if there was a way to repurpose food destined for the landfill while addressing the growing hunger crisis with one innovative solution. Fortunately, someone already imagined that solution and transformed it into the revolutionary organization we are proud to call Food From The Hearts Inc. Food From The Hearts Inc. is an Atlanta-based not-for-profit food bank that redistributes surplus food so that it reaches families and individuals in need. Our goal is to alleviate hunger and food insecurity within the state of Georgia by soliciting, collecting, growing and packaging food for distribution through a network of service agencies and programs that assist under-served groups of people. In short, we support non-profits and community organizations with food that would have gone to landfills in order to enable them to serve the most vulnerable members of their communities and stop hunger in its tracks.
